18th Annual Memorial Invitational Golf Benefit
The Yoder Brothers Memorial Scholarship Foundation
Thanks to all of the Attendees, Major Sponsors, Golf Hole Sponsors, Patron & Donors, Volunteers, Sports Celebrities, Merchandise and Food contributors,
that helped make the Eighteenth Annual Memorial Invitational Golf fund-raiser a huge success. Thanks to all of the golfers who came out and enjoyed a
fun day of golf in wonderful weather at beautiful Fowler’s Mill Golf Course. A Continental Breakfast and Hot dog/Hamburger Lunch was enjoyed by the
golfers; Keg Beer, Soft Drinks, Water, Snacks & Fruit were also available on the course during golf.
The 2014 Memorial Invitational raised more than $45,000 for the Yoder Brothers Memorial Scholarship program. The fund-raising event was well attended with 165 golfers, 70 dinner guests including 20 Scholarship Recipients and Graduates, and 42 Volunteers. Thirteen Sports Celebrities participated in the golf event.
Following golf, there were Hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a buffet dinner in the Pete Dye Room, featuring Chef Carved Prime Rib Roast slow roasted with au jus & horseradish sauce, Baked Chicken Milanese, lightly seasoned and topped with a parmesan and fresh basil cream sauce, Roasted Redskin Potatoes tossed in olive oil and baked, a vegetable Medley mix of broccoli, squash, carrots & peppers in a light butter sauce, a Classic house salad, warm rolls, and Family-style dessert selections on the tables, Fountain drinks, coffee and tea.
Kevin Mack, of the Cleveland Browns Alumni, was the Dinner Guest Speaker. During his rookie season with the Browns in 1985, he rushed for 1,104 yards and 7 touchdowns. Mack played for the Browns for nine seasons, from 1985 to 1993. In 1985 Mack rushed for 1,104 yards and halfback Earnest Byner rushed for 1,002 yards becoming just the third pair of teammates to run for over 1,000 yards for the same team in the same season. Nicknamed "Mack Truck", he was a two-time Pro Bowl 1985 and 1987.
Scott Mihalic, Auctioneer, conducted a live auction during the dinner hour. Golf prizes were awarded to the golfers for various skill shots and low scores and a putting contest; and the attendees received their prizes in the Silent Auction, Fish Bowl raffle and Grid Board game. There was no winner in the $50,000 Shootout and no winners in the Hole-in-One contest for 2 automobiles.
On behalf of the Yoder Brothers, Joshua & Tyler, Memorial Scholarship Foundation, I would like to thank all for the ongoing support and generosity. With this support the Foundation continues to make a tangible difference in our community with the scholarship program. The monies raised from the fund-raiser also make a tangible difference in the lives of the young men and women from Cardinal, Berkshire and Newbury High Schools pursuing their dreams of a higher education as the Foundation continues to support their endeavours with the scholarship awards.
